Professor Dr. Peter GRÜNBERG
Peter Grünberg Center (PGI), Reserch Center Jülich, Germany.
He stayed at IMR (Institute of Materials Research) as an eminent professor and gave us two lectures each at Katahira and Aobayama campus.
In 2007, he was awarded Nobel prize in Physics for his discovery of giant magnetroresistance which brought about a breakthrough in gigabyte hard disk drives, and has been one of the world-leading researchers.

Professor Dr. Stefan FÖLSCH
Paul Drude Institute for Solid-State Electronics
Stayed as a visiting scientist for three weeks at School of Science and gave us three lectures on topics related to Spintronics.
Received his PhD at University of Hannover in 1991, and Habilitation at Free University of Berlin in 2004.

Professor Dr. Lech Tomasz BACZEWSKI
Magnetic Heterostructures Laboratory, Polish Academy of Sciences
Stayed as a visiting professor at IMR (Institue of Materials Research), Tohoku University.
He gave us a seminar and had many discussions with students and other researchers. Obtained his PhD in 1984 and Habilitation in 2007 both from Warsaw University of Technology in 2007.

Professor Dr. Tomasz DIETL
Laboratory of Cryogenic and Spintronic Research and Group of Spin Phenomena Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Principle Investigator at AIMR since 2012.
Stayed as a visiting researcher at RIEC (Research Institute of Electrical Communication), Tohoku University, and gave us four lectures during his stay. Conferred his PhD in 1977, and Habilitation in 1983, both from Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.

Professor Dr. Paulo SANTOS
Paul Drude Institute for Solid-State Electronics
Had GP-Spin Seminar, and discussions with students and researchers on his visit to School of Engineering. Received his PhD at Max-Plank Institute and University of Stuttgart in 1988, Habilitation at University of Regensburg in 1998.
